We are currently looking for staff for the following positions:
HEAD CHEF AND CHEF (2 positions)
The Park is a popular 80 room tourist hotel with a substantial and popular restaurant operation and some meeting / conference business. Along with the pub nearby we are the main eating establishments. We’re located in National Park Village, Ruapehu District catering to a predominantly domestic clientele through the winter months and a broad mix of international and domestic guests over spring and summer. Winter attraction is primarily skiing & snowboarding at NZ’s two largest ski areas, Whakapapa and Turoa. In summer a key attraction is the Tongariro Alpine Crossing walk along with multi-day hikes, mountain biking, fishing etc. It’s a great area if you’re into the outdoors but no good if bars, restaurants and nightlife are your thing! Our season is very similar to Queenstown, strong most of the year but quiet May / June – we just don’t get their room rates!
We need a Head Chef to run our FnB – ordering, cost control & cooking. We’re too small for this to be a desk job. The chef needs to be in there, boots ‘n’ all with our other chefs and support staff. We also need a 2nd chef to work with our other chefs and kitchen staff.
We’re open 7 days a week for breakfast & dinner and at times meetings and events during the day. Our menu is quite straightforward such that any competent chef would get a handle on it in no time.

For the head chef we would include accommodation with all expenses paid, that is power, unlimited internet, etc. – everything. There is not a lot to spend your money so most of what is earned is saved.
• Season passes are available to employees at a heavily discounted rate. As there’s no accom or commuting costs you’d save a lot more than an Aucklander on a significantly higher income.
