Spiral Restaurant & Bar

Named after the historic Raurimu railway spiral that winds its way up the central plateau, the Spiral Restaurant & Bar has a warm, hospitable atmosphere and a ton of character. With seasonal menus, children’s menu and al fresco dining, we pride ourselves on being a favourite of both guests and locals after a big day out on the mountain. We can also provide the option of packed lunches on request for groups or as part of one our adventure packages.

Constructed in the early 1900s the spiral was regarded as an engineering masterpiece, enabling trains to surmount a steep gradient and nearly 140 metres vertically to reach the central plateau’s 825m elevation. Read more about the Raurimu Spiral.
